Challenge Baseball

The purpose of Challenge Baseball at Indian Trail exists to provide the youth an opportunity to excel in the fundamentals of baseball in a competitive environment.

Indian Trail’s Goal:

Challenge is for players that show an elevated interest or aptitude in baseball and provide the advanced level players the opportunity to improve their skills through competitive practices and competition.

Teams for Each Age Group:

At each level, ITTA will sponsor at least 1 Challenge team, which is extra baseball, intended for players willing to play at a higher level of competition. There may be multiple Challenge teams or no Challenge teams, depending on the number of interested, eligible players and the number of willing coaches. These teams will hold tryouts separately from the evaluations for recreation evaluations and may play extra games against other local recreation associations or may enter tournaments at the team’s expense and discretion. Participants must be an active player on one of their association’s regular season team rosters to tryout for a challenge team.

Note: Challenge is NOT an extensive practice season for All-Stars and WILL NOT replace the selection process of All-Stars.

Player Participation and Eligibility:

Any player interested must register with your coach and attend try out’s to qualify. You must be a member of ITAA and actively playing for a Spring or Fall Recreational Team.

This is a competitive program designed for the advanced player. This is a try out, not all players will make a team.

Age is determined by what age the player will be on April 30th of the same year in the Spring Season and the following year in the Fall Season. Players in each league are eligible to tryout for which ever team they choose. Meaning a 9 year old can tryout for the 10 year old Challenge team if they want too. It will be left up to the coaches on whether they take the younger player based on his ability. Younger players will be encouraged to attend both tryouts for both age groups in case the player doesn’t make the higher age group. If by chance they only go out for the 10 yr old team and doesn’t make it, they will not be allowed to be considered by the 9 yr old team unless they showed to that tryout as well. In the same respect, a 10 year old cannot play down on a 9 yr old team. Players must play in the division they are registered in for rec ball. Meaning a Rookies players couldnt try out for a Minors or Majors Challenge Team.

Cost per player:

Based on the number of players per team will determine the cost. Estimated roughly $140-$170 per player which includes insurance, tournament entry fees, uniforms (if needed), and field fees. This does not include any travel expenses incurred by the team or gate fees at each tournament.
